The Geek’s Guide to Unrequited Love

Author: Sarvenaz Tash
Series: Standalone
Genre: YA, Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: June 14 2016

John Hughes meets Comic Con in this hilarious, unabashedly romantic, coming-of-age novel about a teenager who is trying to get his best friend to fall in love with him from the author of Three Day Summer.

Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy…
Archie and Veronica…
Althena and Noth…
…Graham and Roxy?

Graham met his best friend, Roxana, when he moved into her neighborhood eight years ago, and she asked him which Hogwarts house he’d be sorted into. Graham has been in love with her ever since.

But now they’re sixteen, still neighbors, still best friends. And Graham and Roxy share more than ever—moving on from their Harry Potter obsession to a serious love of comic books.

When Graham learns that the creator of their favorite comic, The Chronicles of Althena, is making a rare appearance at this year’s New York Comic Con, he knows he must score tickets. And the event inspires Graham to come up with the perfect plan to tell Roxy how he really feels about her. He’s got three days to woo his best friend at the coolest, kookiest con full of superheroes and supervillains. But no one at a comic book convention is who they appear to be…even Roxy. And Graham is starting to realize fictional love stories are way less complicated than real-life ones.

Why am I waiting…

You had me at John Hughes meets Comic Con…actually you really had me at John Hughes. I’m convinced I was born in the wrong era as my all time favourite movies consist of The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles, and of course Home Alone. I’m so excited to read The Geek’s Guide to Unrequited Love and I have a feeling that there’s a strong possibility of this ending up on my favourites list!

What are you waiting on this week?!

I normally don’t like when books reference themselves to other books and movies but I have to admit I am curious about this one.

I adore 80’s movies and I’ve been to one comic con (soon to be two) so I may have to get over my dislike of books comparing themselves to other books/movies.

Jealous! I have yet to go to comic con, one day I will go! When I first came across this I was excited but also nervous with the reference to John Hughes, but the more I reread the synopsis the more I get excited lol. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
